Smart Start helps you take care of your own health, and it helps you make healthy choices for your baby too. Smart Start can help connect you to services in Peoria County such as: -Housing -Transportation -Counseling -Shelters -Food programs -Medical care referrals -Education -Prenatal, postpartum, and infant care education Who gets to receive Smart Start's free services? You can receive help from Smart Start at no cost if: -You are pregnant or have an infant under age 1, and -You live in Peoria County, and -You qualify under the state's income guidelines How does Smart Start work? Through the Smart Start program, we will talk with you about what kinds of services you need. Then we'll help connect you to the social services in Peoria County that can help you, and we'll keep in touch with you to give you support along the way. No transportation? No problem. You don't need to come to us. We'll come to you! Smart Start case managers do home visits Monday through Friday. *Smart Start can potentially assist their clients with cribs, pack 'n plays, and car seats. To become a client, the person must have a child under the age of one.
