*Food Pantry: Tazewell County residents (No ID required) ------------------------------- PLEASE NOTE-All financial assistance programs are administered on a case-by-case basis, depending on funding. The following are general guidelines, but some flexibility is built in. Please call for a final screening. *Back Rent Assistance: Applicant must have some sort of notice from landlord stating amount behind on rent, proof of hardship, and proof of income/projected income *First Month's Rent and/or Deposit: This funding is considered for those who are currently homeless; at risk of being homeless (friend or family member is kicking the person/family out, person/family is about to lose lodging for another reason, etc.); or in a crisis situation (domestic violence, aftermath of a fire or disaster, etc.). Please call for a screening. *Mortgage Assistance(principle & interest only; no late fees or escrow/taxes): Applicant will need proof of hardship, income (or projected income), and some sort of statement from the lender about delinquent payment *Electric/Gas Assistance: The applicant will need a disconnection notice and proof of income. The Salvation Army will sometimes consider old bills. Please call for further details. *Water Assistance: Can help with various water providers. City, Illinois American Water, etc. Must have past past due bill or old bill. Please call for further details. Must have proof of income/projected income and proof of hardship. *Vehicle Repairs: Vehicle must be insured; vehicle must be only means of transportation to get to work or medical appointments; and issue must be mechanical in nature (for example, not an air conditioner problem). The program is typically for those who are working, but other situations might be considered as funding allows.

Main Office Hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Food pantry: Tuesdays & Thursdays: 9:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Emergency food is available during office hours. Please call.

It offers numerous assistance programs for those in need. ------------------ 2025-26 Warming & Cooling Center Information: Open as a warming center when the temperatures fall below freezing. The Salvation Army's building is at 243 Derby St. in Pekin, and The Pekin Outreach Initiative is housed on the East Side of this building. The Pekin Outreach Initiative portion is open from 11am-4pm, Monday through Sunday, for people to drop in and warm up. The Salvation Army shelter in the gym at the same location is open overnight 5pm-10:30am, Monday through Sunday, for warming. Usually limited to 10-15 people at most for this purpose.
