The Weatherization Program is provided by the State of Illinois. The Weatherization Program helps low-income individuals and families save fuel and money, while increasing the comfort of their homes.

Sealing cracks with weather-stripping and caulk
Provide insulation for attics and walls
Repair windows and doors
Check furnace to determine if it needs to be cleaned or serviced
Provide furnace repair or retrofit to update current system
Can provide furnace replacement
Water heater
This program is open to both the City of Peoria and larger Peoria County. Please note that this program cannot assist with central air conditioning.

The LIHEAP Emergency Furnace Program is distinct from the Weatherization program and if the applicant is eligible, moves much faster. Applicants must fall within LIHEAP income guidelines, among other requirements (please see below).

Weatherization services include having an experienced heating contractor examine the heating system. The contractor will make sure the heating system is safe and in working order. Work on the furnace may include-

The Fulton County Health Department administers the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) for the county. LIHEAP provides energy assistance for eligible low income families in which a benefit is paid directly to the utility companies on behalf of eligible households, or directly to renters if the utility costs are included in their rent. The benefit amount will be credited to the households primary winter heating source (gas vs. electric). The program can also occasionally assist with furnaces.
