Washington Helps Its People (WHIP) is a local food pantry created to meet the needs of people within the Washington Township community. This all-volunteer organization began providing assistance with food for area families in the early 1980s. Today WHIP serves between 120 and 140 families on each of the two days a month it is open for distribution of food. Thanks to the generous contributions from the Washington Township United Fund, local churches, schools, businesses, and Washington residents; WHIP is able to support families in their time of need.

Peoria County Animal Protection Services (PCAPS) demonstrates a successful partnership between governmental agencies and private organizations. The shelter is operated by the County of Peoria through agreements with the Peoria Humane Society and the Peoria County Veterinary Medical Association and remains the only animal shelter in Peoria County.
